Most
oftentimes, our K-9 detection teams are used to conduct
private residential searches for several reasons. First
and foremost is because there is someone in the
household that is suspected of using and hiding illegal
substances on the premises, whether this is for personal
use or for sale to others. More often than not, there
are young children in the household and because of a
careless sibling, parent or guardian that gets so
wrapped up in their use of these narcotic substances,
they do not realize that they are placing these children
at risk through this carelessness.
On
many occasions, our K-9 detection teams are brought in
when suspecting parents or legal guardians are
suspicious of their teenage children that they believe
might be involved in this culture due to peer
pressures. The parent or legal guardian suspects this
as being a reality but they just have no idea where the
substances are being hidden within the residence.
